new iBook

August 12th, 2005

I called ahead on my way out of work, and the iBook was a hour early, so it was waiting for me when I got home. First off I pulled it out, booted it up, and went through the setup finalization of Tiger, all was good.

I spent the new few hours putting all my settings in, inporting my photos to iPhoto, all my music over to iTunes, re-synced my iPod (all that probably took over an hour).

I played around with my Sony Clie, I managed to sync off a bunch of old contacts from it, so that made me happy. On top of that I’m going to copy my contacts from work when I get there on Monday so I should have a prety accurate database. (same goes for iCal)

On an interesting note, I wasn’t very happy with the way the iBook wouldn’t let me span my desktop (or use higher resolution on the secondary monitor), I found a hack (described to be a firmware hack) here is a link to the site. The iBook only came with a Mini-DVI to D-Sub cable, I wonder if the Mini-DVI to DVI cable will work with it too.

Oh well .. I’m signing off for the time being ..
